The Team's Work Makes The Dream Work - Getting To Know Office Manager Sara Greenbeck

Duarte, California, Aug. 16, 2018 – Holy Awesome Sauce: Sara Greenbeck serves as Office Manager for Alco Building Solutions, but her title pales in comparison to the value Sara brings to ABS team members and clients every day. She is a master of her craft, and regularly acts as the “oil” to keep this machine trudging along without delay or hitch.


On a regular day you can observe Sara working with multiple ABS Teams including: Operations, Engineering, Accounting and Business Development in a supporting role. Sara’s ability to maneuver between internal groups has made her invaluable, but it’s what’s behind all the blood, sweat, and tears that makes her truly special.


Sara personally and deeply cares about the work she does. Seems simple right? Wrong. You would be hard-pressed to find a person more passionate… more dedicated to serving others than what we have observed in Sara. In truth, it’s humbling to see someone care so much, and be so dedicated to doing excellent work.


We took a few moments to speak with Sara about where her passion and commitment to exceeding expectations comes from, and here’s what she had to say:


Interviewer: Does your passion for what you do come from any past working experiences?


Sara: Before ABS, I served as a Center Director at Kindercare Learning Centers for 17 years. I had the privilege of working with children, families, and the best teachers and caregivers out there! My passion grew as I was able to realize the direct impact my daily work had on facilitating a safe, and fun learning environment for children. Regardless of the hat I wore at any given moment, I always felt the desire to have a greater impact!


Interviewer: How do you balance supporting so many groups, and still stay on top of your work load?


Sara: I prioritize flexibility to help any department as needed. Learning to live by my calendar. Setting realistic deadlines and prioritizing tasks is crucial! Always allow time for interruption.


Interviewer: You seem like you care about ABS a lot… Why?


Sara: I know our company is awesome! We have a great team, some of the most innovative thinkers in the industry working right here at ABS. Everyone is so knowledgeable in their role and eager to share that knowledge for the greater good.


Interviewer: Where do you see yourself in 5 years with our firm? What are your professional goals?


Sara: I am new to the field, so it is all about learning! Within the next 5 years, I would like to move into the world of project management as a project engineer. I would to like to gain more experience and working knowledge about every department in the company. I love the idea of only being bound by my own limitations!


Interviewer: If you could pin-point one thing that you love about working at ABS, what would it be?


Sara: Learning from the best minds in the industry!


Interviewer: What do you do for fun outside of work?


Sara: I love to spend time with my two beautiful girls, doing anything and everything!

As the president of Alco Building Solutions, Inc. (ABS) I would like to give you a little background on our company, sharing some of our values and our commitment to the community as well. ABS started in 1995 as ALCO ELECTRIC and became an "Electrical & General Construction" firm in 2004, incorporating that same year.

Safety, craftsmanship, integrity, technical knowledge and collaboration are values that we consider important within our business. We have been fortunate to positively impact many people and communities in our work. It's humbling to be contributing to those around us, doing something within an industry that we are so passionate about.

 

Since our inception, our firm has completed numerous projects in the fields of Electrical (commercial, industrial, institutional and large residential), General Construction, EV Charging Infrastructure, Facility Maintenance, and Energy Services. In putting our values to practice, I have served as a Chairperson for Rebuilding Together (2001-2006), Economic Development Commissioner (1/06/2004-12/31/2007) with the City of Duarte,CA, and I have served on the "Route 66 Parade" committee for over 10 years as well. I have also served as the President of the Duarte, CA Elks Lodge. We live out our values through our actions... It's that simple.

Joshua Veblen, LC

Principal

Josh uses his extensive industry knowledge to collaborate in helping customers conceptualize, design, finance, and implement general construction, tenant improvement, energy optimization and sustainability projects throughout the west coast. Josh’s technical strength is complimented by stellar communication skills allowing him to easily translate customer needs into technical guidelines providing leadership for our internal teams, and clients.

 

Throughout his career, he has developed and implemented a variety of construction, energy optimization and sustainability projects with warehouse/distribution, food processing, healthcare, K12, higher education, manufacturing, municipal, and federal government customers, including many national accounts.

 

Prior to joining ABS, Josh was employed as the Business Unit Manager with SmartWatt Energy overseeing all west coast operations. Josh is also an award-winning manager/leader, and has been recognized for this skill set from all prior employers.

Kris Kimble

Business Development Manager

Twenty seven years of professional experience has provided a broad base from which to offer leadership, business development expertise as well as collaboration, consulting and advice to other business leaders. A passion for efficiency, formal training and certification combine in a unique and pragmatic approach to planning, problem solving and results.

Specialties: Understanding a wide range of industry (Academics, Workforce Development, Building Owners/Managers, Architectural/Design, Government & Business) needs to plan, meet mandates, and establish meaningful policy for performance and change.
